Plumbing Permits

Plumbing permits are required for extension or reduction of all plumbing lines and must be obtained before construction begins. Permits, and subsequent inspections, help ensure that all plumbing installations meet National Plumbing Code, as well as municipal and provincial legislation and standards.

The process ensures that all health and safety requirements for any change to water/sewer lines inside a building are met, protecting the health of individuals and eliminating cross-contamination of the municipal water supply system. Only plumbing contractors with a valid New Brunswick Plumbing Contractor’s license can obtain a plumbing permit. Such permits can be obtained by visiting the customer service centre on the ground floor of Fredericton City Hall, or by applying online.
