All-Wheel Sport Plaza

The City of Fredericton has directed staff to consult with the public and stakeholders on a recommended and preferred location for the new All Wheel Sport Plaza, behind the Armories in the York Street Parking Lot.

The site plan proposes an expansion to the York Street parking lot to ensure at least as many parking spots remain in the lot.

The new site allows for easy access via multiple active transportation modes and is multi-purpose and multi-generational in nature allowing for a wide variety of special event and program development opportunities.

Under the direction of City Council, staff will begin to carry out further public consultation related to the development of Fredericton’s new All Wheel Sport Plaza.

The recommendation comes after the initial location at the Small Craft Aquatic Centre ran into major roadblocks during the feasibility process and a second location at the Willie O’Ree Centre was not supported by the community.  Public consultation that followed (February 2018) clearly identified a preference for a downtown location, ultimately leading City staff and stakeholders to this new location.
