Mayor's Working Committee on Community/University Relations

Good Neighbours / Good Neighbourhood Sub Committee

 In response to a number of incidents that occurred in the College Hill Neighbourhood in the fall of 2007, a Good Neighbours / Good Neighbourhood Sub Committee was formed as part of the Mayor's Working Committee on Community/University Relations.  The sub committee developed an action plan, which was released in April 2008.  See the link on the Related Contact sidebar for the plan's executive summary.

Mayor's Working Committee on Community/University Relations

The Mayor's Working Committee on Community/University Relations is mandated to foster better communication between the City of Fredericton and its two Universities for the purpose of generating greater opportunities for the community as a whole. The Committee comprises interested stakeholders with representation from City Council, the City Administrator's Office, the Universities, Downtown Business and Citizens at Large. The Mayor, and both University presidents are ex-officio members.

The Committee meets on an as-needed basis to explore issues of common interest or concern to the community as a whole. In its role as an advisory group, the Committee discusses solutions to community/university issues and makes recommendations to City Council and/or the Universities on a wide variety of interests and issues such as:

• Diversity & Inclusion
• Student Housing - Off Campus
• Student Transit
• Linkages Between the Universities and the City of Fredericton
• Living Well Together in Our Neighbourhoods
• Alumni Events
