Photo of Damaged Dunn FountainFredericton, NB (August 19, 2013) – The marble and granite fountain on the Green, near the Beaverbrook Art Gallery, has been damaged.  The top tier of the fountain has fallen over.  The damage was discovered on Monday morning, August 19, 2013.

Anyone with information about the damage is asked to call the Fredericton Police at 506-460-2300 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).

The fountain was installed around 1961 in memory of Sir James Dunn by Lord Beaverbrook.  It was imported to Fredericton from the gardens of Stowe House in Buckinghamshire, England.

“I am saddened to hear that the fountain installed along the Green in the memory of Sir James Dunn has suffered damage,” said Mayor Brad Woodside.  “It has been a wonderful addition to our landscape for over five decades.  I encourage anyone with information about the damage to call and let know us what happened.”
