AFFORDABLE HOUSING IN FREDERICTON

November 18, 2009 - City Makes Policy Changes To Support Affordable Housing - The City of Fredericton is making changes to some of its planning policies to make it easier for non-profit organizations to build affordable housing units.

November 9, 2009 - Third Annual Affordable Housing Day Forum November 18 at Crown Plaza - Fredericton’s third annual Affordable Housing Day will be held on November 18, 2009.  The theme for this year’s event is:  Affordable Housing:  Then & Now.

February 9, 2009 - City Council Takes Pro-Active Approach to Affordable Housing - City Council will continue to play a leadership role in promoting the development of affordable housing in Fredericton. Council decided last night to raise the profile of its Affordable Housing Committee by dropping Ad-Hoc from its title and making it an official sub-committee of its Standing Committee on Development.

November 13, 2008 - Second Annual Affordable Housing Day Set for Nov. 18 - The second annual Fredericton Affordable Housing Day conference will be held November 18 at the Killarney Lake Rotary Centennial Lodge, 1600 St. Mary's Street, Fredericton from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

February 18, 2008 - Affordable Housing for Seniors Announced in Fredericton - The Government of Canada and the Province of New Brunswick officially announced an affordable housing project for seniors and non-elderly singles in Fredericton today.

October 11, 2007 - Affordable housing project for seniors opens in Fredericton - The Government of Canada and the Province of New Brunswick officially opened an affordable housing project in Fredericton today, funded under the Canada-New Brunswick Affordable Housing Agreement. The project created 19 new affordable housing units for seniors.

August 27, 2007 - More safe, quality affordable housing opens in Fredericton - The Government of Canada and the Province of New Brunswick officially opened an affordable housing project in Fredericton today, funded under the Canada-New Brunswick Affordable Housing Agreement. The project created 50 new units, of which 44 are affordable housing units for non-elderly singles and persons with disabilities.

December 10, 2007 - City to Offer Discounted Land to Affordable Housing Developers - City Council is offering developers a big discount on the purchase of City-owned surplus property if they include affordable housing units in their construction plans.

April 12, 2007 - New affordable housing projects in Fredericton - Individuals, persons with disabilities and seniors in Fredericton will have access to more affordable housing with the construction of two new affordable housing projects, Tannery Court Fredericton and York Development Inc.
