Fredericton (April 1, 2010) – Fredericton has been named one of the top three lowest cost places to do business in North America according to the 2010 KPMG Competitive Alternatives Study. KPMG's 2010 Competitive Alternatives study provides an independent comparison of international business location costs in 112 cities in 10 countries around the world.
Fredericton also ranked second on the list of cities along the Eastern Seaboard and fifth overall among the 10 countries around the world included in the study.
“We’re thrilled to be among the top three most cost competitive places to do business within North America,” remarked Fredericton Mayor Brad Woodside. “This ranking gives us an even sharper edge to attract investment, and cultivate economic growth and prosperity for our citizens.
The study cited Fredericton’s major industries as environmental technologies, engineering, information/communications technologies and government. Modern and emerging industries are: aerospace, biotechnology and life sciences.
“Congratulations to Moncton for making the list,” added Mayor Woodside. “This is good news for both cities and the Province of New Brunswick.”
