Christmas Tree Recycling

photo of Christmas TreeDecember 21, 2009 - Wondering what to do with your Christmas tree after the Holidays?  Why not take your tree (real trees only) to be recycled?  The City of Fredericton has designated eight areas for disposal of Christmas trees after the Holidays.  These areas will be designated with Christmas Tree Disposal Area signs.  Trees may be disposed at these sites from 2009 December 26 to 2010 January 15.  There WILL NOT be a curbside pick up for Christmas Trees along City Streets.

Christmas Trees are collected at sites, chipped and recycled for Compost.  The annual Christmas Tree Recycling Program is one of the many ways that we can reduce waste, reuse and recycle.

There are eight designated areas for Christmas Tree Recycling (signed disposal areas):

(1) Royal Road Park - Park parking lot adjacent to the Royal Road Fire Station

(2) Fulton Heights - School parking lot off main entrance to Nashwaaksis Middle School

(3) Malloy Park - Park parking lot at McEvoy and Noble Streets (off MacLaren)

(4) Marysville Heritage Centre - Facility parking lot off McGloin Street

(5) Kimble Drive - Vacant lot opposite the Fredericton Community Garden at 150 Kimble Drive

(6) Odell Park - Park parking lot in corner of the lot off Waggoners Lane

(7) Queens Square Park - Park parking lot adjacent to pool building off Aberdeen

(8) Angelview Park - Park parking lot off Woodstock Road

For staff and equipment safety please DO NOT leave wreaths, artificial trees or any other materials that are not natural Christmas Trees.  This includes the removal of all stands, tinsel, ornaments, screws, plastic, strings, nails and wires as these objects are not recyclable.

The City of Fredericton appreciates your co-operation in disposing of your Christmas tree at the designated sites and thanks you for your recycling support.  Contact the parks and trees division by email or (506) 460-2294.
