City now accepting Intercultural Awards nominations for 2020

The City of Fredericton’s two Intercultural Awards are given to an individual and to a group, organization or business that has demonstrated a sustained commitment and effort to enhance Fredericton’s cultural diversity, to promote interculturalism, to help combat prejudice, and/or to assist newcomers and immigrants in integrating to life in the community.

If you know of someone who is deserving of these awards, please nominate him, her, or them by filling out the online form or downloading a printable copy from the City’s website (see link further below). The nomination deadline is Tuesday, March 31, 2020, at 8 am.

Here are some examples of the activities for which you can nominate a person, group, organization or business: advocacy, arts, awareness, business, employers, First Nation relations and culture, foreign direct investment, Francophone relations and culture, gender and sexual minorities, international students, recreation and sport, seniors and persons with different abilities, settlement, tutoring, volunteerism, women, youth and more.

The two recipients (individual, group/organization/business) will receive the award at a City Council session in June 2020 as part of the events of Immigration Month. The winners and their guests will be invited to attend the ceremony to formally accept their awards at City Hall. The exact dates will also be announced on the City’s website.
