City Prepares For Canada Day Celebrations

The City of Fredericton is actively preparing for a weekend of activities in downtown Fredericton to celebrate Canada Day.  Two free days of music, family entertainment, fun activities for kids, and more are planned for Fredericton’s official Canada Day event. 

In order to accommodate the weekend events, the following closures will be in place.

Sunday, July 1st                                                                                                                        

  • Westmorland Street Bridge CLOSED from 9:00pm – approx 12am to both vehicle and pedestrian traffic.
  • Boating access to the Saint John River on July 1st will be restricted to below the Carleton Street piers or past the Small Craft Aquatic Centre from 9:00pm – 12am. 

Motorists are reminded of the City’s two Park and Walk locations near the downtown core; one on the north side and one on the south side.  Residents are encouraged to park their cars and walk or bike into the downtown core.

  • FREX Grounds & Parking Lot
  • York Arena (Devon) – The Bill Thorpe Walking Bridge and Northside Trail – both remain open and are easily accessed from the York Area which is located on Barker Street.
