City Prepares for Wet Weather Followed by Fast Freeze

The forecast for the next  2 days is calling for rain and temperatures well above seasonal.  The City of Fredericton crews are working to prepare for a significant amount of rain and melting snow  Followed by a drop in temperatures resulting in a fast freeze.

  • Currently, crews are working to open catch basins around the City.  We will not be able to get every single basin so we encourage residents to help clear catch basins if they are able.
  • With rain and melting snow on top of the already frozen ground, we will experience periods of very slippery conditions.
  • When the temperatures return to below freezing on Sunday, and remaining water on the streets and sidewalks will freeze.  It will take us some time to get everything sanded.  We want to thank you in advance for your patience.
