City Provides Update on Transit Strategic Plan, Announces Remaining Idea Bus Schedule

The City of Fredericton and consultants from Stantec have announced the full schedule for Fredericton Transit’s Idea Bus, a mobile engagement tool to be parked outside major points of attraction throughout the city.  The schedule is part of an overall update on the Transit Strategic Plan announced in December 2017.

Members of the consulting team from Stantec, along with City staff, will engage the Fredericton community on board the Idea Bus Wednesday, January 24, 2018. You can find them at:

  • St. Thomas University    9:45am – 11:15am
  • York Street (corner of York & Queen) 11:30am – 1:15pm
  • Regent Mall        1:45pm – 2:45pm
  • Brookside Mall    3:00pm – 4:00pm

The Idea Bus is part of a larger consultation effort seeking public feedback, including stakeholder workshops involving major employers, social service agencies, the university and college and community leaders.

Fredericton Transit staff and consultants will also be seeking input on how to increase ridership by talking to members of the public at the City’s parking garages.   Both riders and non-riders are reminded to complete an online survey at www.ftsurvey.ca.  The deadline for completion is February 9, 2018.

The Fredericton Transit Strategic Plan Project is scheduled over a three-month period, leading to the creation of a ‘blueprint’ for Fredericton Transit on how it can better deliver services to its customers and increase ridership.  Draft recommendations are anticipated to be presented in March 2018.
