City Seeks Planning Advisory Committee Volunteers

The City of Fredericton is seeking applications for the Planning Advisory Committee (PAC) when vacancies become available.  Interested residents are asked to submit a letter and brief resume demonstrating relevant qualifications and experience by Wednesday, November 30, 2016.

PAC consists of nine members including City Councillors and city residents.  Members are appointed for varying terms up to three years and may be eligible for re-appointment.  To qualify as a member of PAC, a person must be eligible to vote under the New Brunswick Municipalities Act and be a resident in the City of Fredericton.  Past experience in land use planning and / or development is also considered an asset.

PAC is a quasi-judicial body established under the provisions of the New Brunswick Community Planning Act and appointed by the Council of the City of Fredericton. The role of PAC is to advise Council on issues related to rezonings, subdivisions, and amendments to the Municipal Plan, as well as to consider and make decisions on variances from the Zoning By-law.

The regular meetings of PAC are held on the third Wednesday of every month at 7:00 p.m. at City Hall, with additional meetings as the need arises. PAC appointments are volunteer positions with no renumeration provided.

Applications can be submitted to the Office of the City Clerk, 397 Queen Street, by fax at 460-2905, or to cityclerk@fredericton.ca on or before Wednesday, November 30, 2016.
