City supports 35 community groups through Transit Fare Assistance Program

The City of Fredericton is pleased to announce that the 2020 Transit Fare Assistance Program has been able to provide regular single-ride and ParaTransit tickets to 35 community agencies or programs. Tickets were allocated based on identified need and ticket availability.

Agencies receiving support in 2020 include the following:

  5. Big Brothers Big Sisters
  6. Boys & Girls Club of Fredericton
  7. Canadian National Institute for the Blind
  8. Capital Region Mental Health & Addictions
  9. Central Valley Adult Learning Association
  10. Chalmers Regional Hospital Foundation
  11. Christ Central Church (The Meeting Place)
  12. Christ Church Cathedral
  13. Fredericton Downtown Community Health Centre
  14. Evelyn Grove Manor Tenants Association
  15. Family Enrichment Services
  16. Fredericton Community Kitchens
  17. Fredericton Homeless Shelters
  18. Greener Village (Fredericton Food Bank)
  19. Jobs Unlimited
  20. John Howard Society of Fredericton

The program is designed to provide additional support to community groups as they assist their clients’ efforts to attend medical appointments, access education and training, seek employment, or visit service providers. Under the program, these agencies can apply to receive Transit and Para Transit tickets to distribute to their clients. The program will operate throughout 2020.

Participating groups must demonstrate sound management and accountability for all tickets they receive by submitting Ticket Usage Records to the City each month.
