City to hold consultation concerning alternate location for new All-Wheel Sports Plaza

The City of Fredericton is inviting members of the public and all-wheel sport enthusiasts to provide feedback on a proposed alternate site for a new All-Wheel Sport Plaza next to Willie O’Ree Place.

Two public consultation sessions will be held on February 22, 2018, one at 3:30 pm – 4:30 pm and the other from 6:30 pm – 8:00 pm, in the Celebration of Sport Room, off of the main lobby at Willie O’Ree Place, 605 Cliffe Street, Fredericton, NB.  Both sessions will be the same.

City staff had originally identified a location adjacent to Small Craft Aquatic Centre for this project.  Due to the cost associated with removing underground infrastructure, that location was deemed to be unacceptable.

Additional downtown locations were considered, but none were considered viable for 2018. Upon further review, staff suggested that the new plaza could be developed on a piece of land next to Willie O’Ree Place. City Council directed staff to seek public input into that idea.

Questions or comments related to the public consultation sessions can be directed to the City of Fredericton at 506-460-2020 or recreation@fredericton.ca.
