City Welcomes HMCS Fredericton “Bike for Wishes” Tour

August 12, 2016 - The City of Fredericton hosted the final leg of the HMCS Fredericton “Bike for Wishes” fundraising tour, in support of the Children’s Wish Foundation, with a welcome ceremony and cheque presentation at 11 am on Friday, August 12, 2016 at Fredericton City Hall.  Mayor Mike O’Brien and other members of Fredericton City Council welcomed the HMCS crewmembers.  The team raised $61,924.

“Our relationship with the HMCS Fredericton and their Bike for Wishes Tour is a long standing one”, said Coun. Stephen Chase, the City of Fredericton’s liaison with the ship.  “We’re always happy to support the crew’s fundraising efforts for the hardworking team at the Children’s Wish Foundation.”

The tour features two teams made up of 17 crewmembers from the City’s namesake ship cycling across the province from August 7 -12, 2016.  All proceeds raised on the tour will support the wishes of children diagnosed with high risk, or life-threatening illness.

The 250 person crew is just back from a six-month deployment to the Mediterranean and Black seas as part of Operation Reassurance, a NATO mission aimed at promoting security in Central and Eastern Europe.
