Community Space for a Growing Neighbourhood; City to Present the First Draft of Upper Hanwell Park Plan

The City of Fredericton is inviting residents of the Lian Street and Valcour Drive area to see the first draft of its Upper Hanwell Park (formerly known as the Lian / Valcour Neighbourhood Park) Master Plan.

The draft master plan, prepared by Trace Planning and Design, incorporates the public’s input and feedback on park amenities, style, and more gathered over a 12 month period, dating back to June 2018. The result is a draft plan for the new park space, designed to serve and anticipate the needs of a growing neighbourhood and expanding uptown community.

Residents interested in viewing the plan and learning more about the future park space are invited to a public open house at the Holy Family Parish Church, 1500 Hanwell Road, on Thursday, June 27 from 6:30pm – 8:30pm.

The meeting, hosted by Coun. Stephen Chase, City Councillor for Ward 9 (Bishop Drive / Odell Park), will introduce preliminary work planned for the park including way-finding signage and initial trail work near the entrance to the space.

Members of the consultant team will also be on hand to present other key findings of the plan, and answer any related questions.

The City looks forward to exploring your thoughts at this important session. For more information, contact the City Clerk’s Office at 506-460-2857 or cityclerk@fredericton.ca
