Final Details Provided for Imagine Fredericton City Summit

A final schedule of activities for the Imagine Fredericton City Summit was presented today to members of the City’s Development Committee.  Staff encouraged members of the Committee, along with the public, to register for this once-in-a-generation opportunity to create a vision for Fredericton’s future.  The City Summit will be held October 27 – 29.  All events are free and open to the public.

The Committee received information on Snapshot Fredericton, a new report that will inform conversations during the Summit.  A detailed schedule of events was also presented.  This three-day event will be a community conversation around key issues and opportunities the city needs to consider in planning for the future.

“I’m excited to hear that Imagineers attending the City Summit will take part in both facilitated and mobile imagineering workshops to be held at eight different locations around the city over three days,” said Committee Chair, John MacDermid.  “We anticipate a great turnout for this important community event and encourage anyone interested to register as soon as possible to guarantee their space in the conversation.”

The findings of the Imagine Fredericton City Summit will build upon the informal pubic consultation that started in June of this year.  Following the City Summit, three growth scenarios will be prepared for community feedback in the coming months.  Based on the preferred scenario, a new Municipal Plan will be developed to provide a planning framework and policy guidance for implementing the Growth Strategy.
