Imagine Fredericton City Summit Registration Now Open

Registration has opened for the Imagine Fredericton City Summit being held October 27-29, 2016 at various locations in the city.  Hosted by the City of Fredericton, this three-day community conversation will seek to re-imagine the city’s future and lead to the creation of a Growth Strategy and new Municipal Plan.  To ensure your place in the conversation with fellow ‘Imagineers,’ pre-register now for the Summit at www.imaginefredericton.ca.

The City Summit will build upon the informal pubic consultation that started in June of this year and will involve activities at the Centre communautaire Sainte-Anne, Fredericton Convention Centre, as well as mobile ‘Imagineering’ workshops in the community.

“Community participation in the Imagine Fredericton efforts so far has been phenomenal,” said Fredericton Mayor Mike O’Brien.  “This is our chance to imagine together, to say how and where our city should grow in the future.”

Mayor O’Brien will launch the conversation on Thursday, October 27 at the Centre communautaire Sainte-Anne.  Members of the project consultant team, Urban Strategies Inc., will be on hand to set the stage for the Summit.  Renowned urbanist and guest ‘Imagineer’ Michael Von Hausen, a Harvard graduate with over 30-years experience in public and private land development, planning, and design experience, will close out the evening with a presentation designed to inspire innovation and encourage engagement in this once-in-a-generation city-building initiative.

The City Summit will hold ‘Imagineering’ workshops based on the following themes:

  • Jobs and the Economy
  • Places To Live
  • Getting Around
  • Place-Making
  • Recreation and Culture
  • Resiliency and the Environment

Following the City Summit, three growth scenarios will be prepared for community feedback in the coming months.  Based on the preferred scenario, a new Municipal Plan will be developed to provide a planning framework and policy guidance for implementing the Growth Strategy.

All events and ‘Imagineering’ workshops are free to the public.
