Intercultural Award Nomination Deadline Extended

June 15, 2016 - The nomination deadline for this year’s City of Fredericton Intercultural Award has been extended to Friday, July 29, 2016.  The award was created to recognize an individual, group or business that has demonstrated a sustained commitment and effort to enhance Fredericton’s cultural-diversity and inclusiveness.

Nominations will be evaluated based on criteria that include:

  • promoting cultural diversity awareness, harmony and understanding;
  • building skills and knowledge of newcomers to allow them to participate fully in our community;
  • engaging international students and youth so they feel connected to the community and want to stay;
  • encouraging involvement of newcomers in sports, the arts, and other community programs creating a sense of belonging;
  • business mentorship to immigrants to allow them to successfully start a new business, and more.

Nominations can be submitted by any interested party excluding family members of the nominee.  Self nominations cannot be accepted.   Nominations will be reviewed by a selection committee and the award will be presented at a Fredericton City Council meeting.
