Rogers Appointed Fredericton’s Deputy Mayor

Fredericton, NB (May 24, 2016) – Kate Rogers, City Councillor for Ward 11 (East Downtown & Plat/UNB), was appointed Deputy Mayor for the City of Fredericton at the regular Council meeting of May 24, 2016. 

Rogers is a graduate of UNB’s Masters Program in Political Science and has built her career since then through leadership roles in arts administration and policy research and development.  She is the current Executive Director of the Charlotte Street Arts Centre and serves as a policy researcher and writer for the Economic Social Inclusion Network.  Kate is a past Executive Director of the New Brunswick Crafts Council and Managing Director of the NB Social Policy Research Network.

This is Councillor Rogers’s second four-year term having first been elected in May 2012 and again in May 2016.  In her first term on City Council, she served as Chair of the Community Services Committee, Chair of the Arts & Culture Committee, member of Development Committee, Finance & Administration Committee and Council Representative for Downtown Fredericton Inc.

Rogers is a past President of York (currently Omista) Credit Union, a founding co-chair of the Fredericton Arts Alliance, a director on the Playhouse, Inc. Board of Directors, an advisor to ArtsLink NB, a member of the NB Social Policy Research Network Advisory Board.

A life-long resident Fredericton, Rogers and her husband, Mike Wolfe, have lived in Ward 11 for almost 15 years with their two daughters, Iris and Eliza.

She will serve as Deputy Mayor for a two-year term.
