Select City Fees Will Increase in Early 2019

In an effort to continue to provide quality services to the citizens of Fredericton, and further to the approval of Budget 2019, the public is reminded the following fee increases for the coming year.

The following fees will take effect on January 1, 2019.

Recreation:  Royals Field Cost per Game – from $30.00 to $35.00 (last increased in 2018)

Fire: A critical part of the Fire Department’s fire-prevention mandate is professional inspections. These fee increases reflect the amount of administrative work required to perform investigations being done by the Fredericton Fire Department, in an effort to increase safety and reduce future risk for home and business owners. The fees were last increased in 2004.

  • Fire Property Status Search – from $50.00 to $100.00
  • Fire Summary Investigation Report – from $50.00 to $150.00
  • Fire Full Investigation Report (including images) – from $50.00 to $350.00
  • Fire Full Incident Report – from $25.00 to $250.00
  • Fire Extinguisher Training – from $8.75 to $20.00

New Fees for 2019:

  • Liquor License Inspection for Occupancy Load (Fire) - $30.00
  • Daycare Inspection for License (Fire) - $30.00
  • Fire Works Site Plan and Permit (Commercial Show) - $200.00
  • Fire Second Reinspection Fee - $50.00
  • Fire Third Reinspection Fee - $200.00

The following fees will take effect on February 1, 2019.

  • Recreation: fees were last increased in 2010 unless otherwise indicated.
  • Bronze Star / Junior Lifeguard Club – from $75.00 to $82.50
  • Bronze Medallion / Assistant Instructor / Bronze Cross / National Lifeguard Waterfront – from $90.00 to $99.00
  • National Lifeguard Pool / Swim & Lifesaving Instructor – from $175.00 to $192.50
  • National Lifeguard Recertification - from $50.00 - $55.00
  • Aquatics Leadership Courses – from $110.00 to $121.00 (last increased in 2012)
  • Swim Lessons – from $50.00 to $55.00 (last increased in 2013)

Parking: In an effort to encourage the use of alternate modes of transportation like transit, walking and cycling, as well as ensure short-term parking is readily available in the downtown, an increase in monthly parking rates and parking fines has been approved for 2019. 

Parking fines were last increased in 2010, unless otherwise indicated.

  • Parking Meter Fine from $15.00 to $25.00 (last increase unknown)
  • Loading Zone Parking Fine – from $25.00 to $50.00 (last increase unknown)
  • No Parking Zone Fine - from $25.00 to $50.00 (last increase unknown)
  • Two Hour Parking Zone Fine - from $25.00 to $50.00 (last increase unknown)
  • Frederick Square Garage Monthly Permit Fee - from $67.50 to $80.00
  • East End Garage Monthly Permit Fee - from $100.00 to $110.00
  • York Parking Lot Monthly Permit Fee - from $100.00 to $110.00
  • Campbell Street Lot Monthly Permit Fee - from $100.00 to $110.00
  • Officer's Square Parking Lot Monthly Permit Fee - from $95.00 to $105.00
  • Upper Queen Parking Lot Monthly Permit Fee - from $45.00 to $60.00

The changes to these non-tax revenue rates were approved as part of the City’s 2019 Budget approved by City Council on December 10, 2018. The public is also reminded of the holiday hours and schedules in effect at the City of Fredericton. For details, visit the City’s website at www.fredericton.ca.
