Charges Laid in Break and Enter on Smythe Street

 

A Hanwell male is charged with multiple offenses following a break and enter that occurred in the morning of Tuesday, March 21, 2017, on Smythe Street in Fredericton.

33-year old David J Burlet faces charges of Assult with a weapon, Break and Enter, Disguise with Intent and Breach of Probation. Burlet appeared in Fredericton court this morning and was remanded. He is set to appear for a bail hearing tomorrow morning at 10 a.m.

On March 21, 2017, shortly after 9:00 a.m. the Fredericton Police Force (FPF) responded to a break and enter in progress in a residence on Smythe Street.

The Primary Response Team, Neighborhood Action Team, the K-9 Unit, Major Crime, and the Forensic Identification Team were called to the scene.

After a short foot pursuit, the suspect was apprehended and brought to the FPF. The home owner sustained minor injuries and was brought to the hospital.

The investigation is ongoing. At this moment, no further details will be released in order to protect the integrity of the investigation.

The FPF is continuing to advise Fredericton residents to be aware of their surroundings, secure their property and contact police if they see any suspicious activities.
