Charges Laid in June 19 Motor Vehicle Collision

A 40-year old man from Fredericton appeared in court on Tuesday, to face charges relating to a motor vehicle collision that occurred on Sunday, June 19, 2016.

Robert Drew Shannon, from Fredericton, has been charged with two counts of Impaired Driving Causing Bodily Harm, two counts of Dangerous Driving Causing Bodily Harm, one count of Breach of a Judge's Undertaking, and one count of Driving While Suspended (under the Motor Vehicle Act).

On June 19, at just after 6:30 p.m., members of the Fredericton Police Force, along with the Fredericton Fire Department, and Ambulance New Brunswick,  responded to the traffic circle at Cliffe Street and Two Nations Crossing  for a motor vehicle collision involving a SUV and a motorcycle. The adult male and adult female who were travelling on the motorcycle were transported to the hospital, where they remain with serious injuries.

Mr. Shannon, the lone occupant of the SUV, was also transported to the hospital, and was later released.

The investigation is ongoing and further charges are still being considered.
