Fredericton Police Investigate Foreign Object Reported in Halloween Candy

The Fredericton Police responded to a residence off Kingsley Road in regards to a report of a parent finding a needle in a candy bar.

The family reported that they had been trick or treating around their home before going to a community “Trunk and Treat” event in their area. They then proceeded to an area off Brookside Drive to continue collecting some trick or treat candy. The family visited over 50 homes in the evening.

It has not been determined where the incident occurred.

Officers seize the object and candy wrappings for evidence.

Police have not received any further reports of foreign objects found in candy.

Police are asking for parents to carefully inspect all of their children’s Halloween candy, even if the wrapper doesn’t appear to be tampered with, before allowing children to eat it.

When in doubt, throw it out!

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the Fredericton Police Force at 506-460-2300 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
