UPDATE- Drug and Weapon Seizure Charges

On Wednesday, May 24, 2017, members of the Fredericton Police Force Primary Response Team, Neighborhood Action Team and Major Crime Team executed a Controlled Drug and Substances Act Warrant at a residence on the city’s north side.

Police seized a large selection and quantity of drugs, prohibited weapons, a firearm and $2350.00 cash. The drugs are suspected to be cocaine, methamphetamine, cannabis, cannabis resin, LSD and MDMA with an approximate street value of over $40,000.00.

As a result of the search warrant, a 19 year old male, Jared Stafford, and a 24 year old female, Kodi Burtt, were arrested and subsequently charged with a number of drug and weapons related charges:

  • Possession for the purpose of Trafficking in Controlled Drugs (6 Counts)
  • Unauthorized Possession of Prohibited Weapons (2 Counts)
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
  • Unsafe storage of a Firearm
  • Possession of property obtained by crime

Jared Stafford is also facing two additional charges of Breach of Judge’s and Peace Officer’s undertaking.

Both accused were taken to court where they were remanded into custody and ordered to return to court for a show cause hearing on Monday, May 29, 2017.

The investigation is ongoing and no other details will be released at this moment in order to protect the integrity of the investigation.
