Four arrested following a call for service on Northside

Four people were arrested following a call for service on Hawkins Street on Fredericton’s Northside on Wednesday, August 14, 2019.

Events began at 9:30 a.m., when police received a call from the public reporting an adult male was brandishing a firearm in the area of Main Street. The investigation led police to a multi-unit building on Hawkins Street where they believed the person of interest to be living. Information received led officers to secure the area and call in extra resources.
Members of the Emergency Response Team, Tactical Emergency Medical Service, Crisis Negotiators and RCMP K9 were deployed to the area, and the building was evacuated as a precaution. Contact was eventually made with people inside the subject apartment, and five individuals exited the building.
Two people were questioned and released, and two adult males and one adult female were arrested. All parties are known to police.
The person of interest from the initial offensive weapons call was arrested without incident at a second location around 3:45 p.m.
All parties will appear in court at a later date.
Police remain at the scene as the investigation is ongoing.
