The Fredericton Police Force would like to warn the public about a telephone fraud

The Fredericton Police Force would like to warn the public about a telephone fraud.

The Force has received numerous complaints about people receiving calls from individuals claiming to be from a Government of Canada department such as Service Canada or the Canada Revenue Agency threatening potential victims with jail time if they do not pay off warrants. The fraudsters then direct victims to their local policy agency. Shortly after, the victims get a phone call where the Fredericton Police Force phone number appears on their caller ID, likely using a trick caller technology, and the caller identifies themselves as Officer Marshall. This individual then continues the fraud.

Anyone who has received this phone call is encouraged to contact the Fredericton Police Force at 506-460-2300.
