Highway Temporarily Closed While Police Conduct Fatality Accident Re-enactment

Media Advisory:

The Fredericton Police Force will be temporarily closing a portion of the
west bound lanes of the Vanier Highway during the morning of Tuesday,
May 26th, 2009, while they conduct an investigative re-enactment of a
fatality traffic accident that occurred in 2007. The portion of the
Vanier Highway that will be re-routed between 1100 - 1200 hrs. (approx.) is
the west bound lanes (coming into the City) from the Alison Blvd. off ramp
(just east of the co-op) and the Kimble Rd. off ramp.

The aforesaid investigative re-enactment is associated to a fatality motor
vehicle accident that occurred December 21st, 2007. 61 year old Gerald
R. True was killed as a result of this accident. The driver of the other
vehicle involved in this accident, 61 year old Wanda Anne Christie had
been charged with 'causing death by criminal negligence', contrary to
Section 220 of the Criminal Code of Canada. Following a not guilty plea, a
trial date had been scheduled in Provincial Court for July 22, 2009. In
cases of this nature, it is not uncommon for the Police to create a
recorded re-enactment. The portion of the Vanier Highway will re-open as
soon as the re-enactment is complete.
