FREDERICTON POLICE HOST 3RD ANNUAL KIDS AND KOPS

From July 25th through July 29th, 2011 the Fredericton Police Force will once again partner with local community groups in hosting its 3rd annual Kids and Kops summer camp. Community partners including the Multicultural Association of Fredericton, St Mary’s First Nation, Big Brothers and Big Sisters and the Fredericton Boys and Girls Club will combine to choose twelve lucky children from the community for this exciting one week camp.

The theme of the camp is a Mini Police Academy with both educational and recreational component’s that will allow police officers to mentor and bond with the children.

The educational aspect will introduce the children to the exciting world of specialized police work including crime scene analysis, police service dog and emergency response.

Throughout the week there will be a number of fun and exciting activities taking place with the highlight being a day long city-wide Amazing Race style scavenger hunt. This Amazing Race will see the children partnered with officers to scour the city looking for clues to solve a crime mystery. The week will culminate with a graduation ceremony at Killarney Lake Lodge.

The Fredericton Police Force is once again looking forward to this wonderful opportunity to foster and support positive relationships between police officers and children.
