Fire Department Issues BBQ Safety Checklist
Fredericton (April6, 2010) – The Fredericton Fire Department urges everyone to take a few minutes to think safety before firing up their barbecue now that warmer weather has arrived.
- Check all connections for leaks by applying soap and water, especially after refilling your tank.
- Check rubber hoses for signs of cracking
- Make sure your barbeque is at least one meter from any combustible.
- To eliminate a build up of gas in your barbeque always open the lid before you turn it on and light it.
- When buying a new barbeque make sure it meets CSA or ULC certification.
- Never store propane cylinders inside a residence
