City of Fredericton Recreation Officer Kathryn Baird will receive the Recreation NB Active Living Award of Excellence at their upcoming annual conference to be held in Fredericton September 13-14, 2007.
In her 20th year working within the field of recreation with the City of Fredericton, Kathryn is currently the Recreation Officer responsible for active living initiatives. Kathryn possesses a Bachelor of Education Degree from the Nova Scotia Teacher's College at Mount Saint Vincent. Kathryn started her recreation career with the City of Fredericton in the aquatics field, moved on to community schools, and has settled in nicely as the in house active living guru. Kathryn has been the key in the development of several active living initiatives in Fredericton including; Move This Way, Better Bones, Aqua Stretch, and the ever popular travelling Zig Zag Playground group.
The Recreation New Brunswick Active Living Award of Excellence recognizes a community, program, facility, organization, individual, youth residential camp, or inclusive initiatives that have demonstrated a commitment to active living or health promotion within the community or the Province of New Brunswick. Award recipients are committed to active living and health promotion through the support of physical activity and healthy lifestyles that contribute to vibrant and healthy communities.
The City of Fredericton would like to congratulate Kathryn as the recipient of the 2007 Recreation NB Active Living Award of Excellence. Kathryn's inspiration and drive as a champion for active living is not only beneficial for the City of Fredericton, but for all residents of New Brunswick.
