Secured Bike Parking Facility

What is a Secured Bike Parking Facility

The City of Fredericton, is pleased to announce the construction of a secure, sheltered bicycle parking facility for cyclists who commute to the downtown core.

A secure bike parking facility provides a higher level of security to cyclists who commute to work, shop or visit the downtown core regularly for long periods of time. The bike parking facility provides a secure environment that his sheltered from the elements. Cyclists are still required to use a regular type lock to secure their bike to the racks inside the facility.

The City of Fredericton understands the value of a healthy community and encourages citizens to use different forms of active transportation to commute to work or other activities. The City of Fredericton also understands the need for a secure, sheltered, convenient location to park their bike for the people who wish to use active transportation methods.

Seasonal Hours of Operation

The bike parking facility will be constructed in the Spring/Summer of 2009. Upon completion of the secure bike parking facility, it will remain open for the rest of the season and close December 10, 2009. The facility will be open 24 hours per day, 7 days per week.

Location

Conveniently located beside the Police Station on Queen St, the secure bike parking facility provides parking within a reasonable walking distance to all amenities in the downtown core including bus stops.

Getting a Membership

Cyclists can reserve access in the bike parking facility on a first come, first served basis by registering at the front desk of the City of Fredericton Community Services Department located at 335 Queen St. or on line at www.fredericton.ca

Fee Structure

Use of Bikepark facility is for the season, May 1 until Dec.10 

Fee:  $50.00 plus HST for entire season or any part thereof

A deposit of $10.00 will be charged for the proxy card. This deposit will only be refunded after return of the swipe (proxy) card.  Any lost cards will be replaced at a cost of $10.00.  Card deposit is separate and must be by either cash or cheque.

Bonus

Upon presentation of your Bikepark receipt to The Radical Edge, 386 Queen St. you will receive a voucher for two bicycle tune-ups for $30.00 plus HST. ( a 50% savings)

Note: Upon making an appointment at least one day in advance and providing a key for bicycle lock or combination number, The Radical Edge, 386 Queen Street. (459-3478) will pick up bike from the Bikepark, perform the tune up and return it to the Bikepark when finished. Additional charges for  parts or labour will be paid directly to The Radical Edge.
