General Information
The North Riverfront Trail follows the Saint John River from the Superstore at Main St and Brookside Drive to the North End of the Old Train Bridge in Devon. The trail is approximately a 1.5 hour walk each way.
Parking
Parking is available at the Superstore parking lot, the Cityview Ave. Dog Park and at Carleton park located at Gibson St and Union St.
Accessibility
The trail has a smooth and level crusher dust surface which makes it easily accessible to most users. The trail is quite wide with two graded areas. There is a portion near the Devon Mall that is incomplete and one should follow the signs leading along Union St. to Cliffe St and back to the trail.
Things to see and do
The trail offers a scenic walk along the north side of the Saint John River with the best views of the city. Travel through Carleton Park where sun shelters are ideal for a picnic. The trail passes the Cityview off-leash dog park and the Nashwaaksis Stream Nature Park where Ospreys, Great Blue Herons, ducks and other wildlife can be seen. This is a managed wetland with a boardwalk that leads into the heart of the wetland. Stop and look at the interpretive kiosks describing a wetland and its inhabitants.
Facilities (Bathrooms, Drinking fountains etc.)
There are bathroom and drinking fountains along the trail. Follow the signs.
Natural Environment
The trail follows along Saint John River in an open scenic environment as well as a managed wetland. There are portions of the trail that are within 3 metres of the Saint John River.
