Cityview Dog Park
Fredericton's first off-leash Dog Park is located on Cityview Avenue, off of Main Street on Fredericton's Northside. This completely fenced-in facility is situated on 3/4 of an acre and is easily accessible by car or from the walking trail. A separate area for large and small dogs ensures fun for all and benches and garbage cans are available year-round on site. Recent upgrades to the dog park have included the installation of a sun shelter (sponsored by the Main Street Veterinary Hospital) as well as dusk-to-dawn lighting that allows use later into the evenings during the winter months. Users are reminded to read the posted rules before use and to remember to please "pick up" after their dog to ensure a clean facility. Also, for the safety of all, no children under 12 years of age are permitted inside of the fenced area.
Dog owners/handlers are liable for the behaviour, damage or injury inflicted by their dogs. Owners/handlers are legally and financially responsible for their dogs' behaviour. The City of Fredericton accepts no liability or responsibility for injuries occurring in the dog park.
Digging dogs must be stopped and holes filled by handler
Dog owners should exhibit courteous behaviour, or good "petiquette". There are simple things that you can do to keep the park enjoyable for pets and persons alike:
Friends of the Cityview Dog Park
The Friends of Cityview Dog Park is a community-based group working in partnership with the City of Fredericton. They believe that to be good canine citizens, dogs need off-leash time to exercise and to play with other dogs.
Cityview Dog Park opened its gates in the fall of 2004.
