Move this Way to Vancouver (Supported by 'In Motion') (For further information click here)
‘Move This Way to Vancouver’ is a free web based physical active promotion challenge that runs from November 25th, 2009 to February 12th, 2010. This challenge focus on the friendly competition between teams of 50 to 100 individuals representing the general public as well as various local businesses, schools, health clubs, and universities. All teams will be virtually following the Olympic torch bearer's route from Fredericton to Vancouver in an attempt to cover the equivalent of that distance before the Winter Olympics begin on February 12th. Participants can use pedometers and /or a steps calculator to translate all physical activity that they do into steps. The activities of all team members are added together to help that team make the virtual journey to Vancouver.

Move this Way Programs
Log Your Laps (For further information click here)
Log-Your-Laps is a free walking program held seasonally on the walking track at the Willie O'Ree Place. In this program interested walkers record the number of laps of the track they walk. The total number of laps are converted into kilometres and combined with the totals of all the other program participants.
MOMS on the MOVE! (For further information click here)
Moms on the Move! is a free one-hour walking program for moms or expecting moms (dads and caregivers also welcome). Moms on the Move walks; Tuesday mornings 9:30-10:30am starting May 26th to Sept 24th. All walks leave from the Trail Visitors Centre located on Station Road (off Union Street at the overpass). We will aim to cover approximately 5km every trip and no experience is necessary. MOMS on the MOVE! is weather dependant. Mayor's Activity Awards

This exciting awards program which encourages healthy eating and physical activity for youth aged 6 - 14 will be held from June 1st to August 14th, 2009. The program is offered free-of-charge to all interested youth. Youth choose from a wide variety of activities and healthy eating choices. They earn points based on the difficulty/challenge of the items chosen. Those earning 200-249 points will earn a Bronze award those getting 250-350 points a Silver award and those earning over 350 points a Gold award. Awards will be distributed at a closing ceremony on August 29th at Odell Park lodge.

Walk to Run is a free 8 (fall) or 12 (summer) week program for those aged 14 and over. The Walk to Run program transitions you gradually from walking to running. The Walk to Run program targets people who are seasoned walkers and looking for a new challenge. This program is offered based on public demand. Geocaching

Enjoy Fredericton's wilderness and outdoors with geocaching! Geocaching is a modern-style treasure hunt - all you need is a map, GPS (global positioning) unit and a sense of adventure. There are more than 250 geocaches in Fredericton. Our extensive trails (over 80kms) and parks provide many great spots to stash caches allowing geocachers to hunt for caches by foot or by bike.
Get out, have fun and explore five of Fredericton's popular walking trails while on the hunt for geocache #GC16J4N, (Move This Way). This is a puzzle cache with 10 waypoints to be located and clues to put together before the final waypoint is pinpointed and active rewards uncovered!
Better Bones Exercise Program (For further information click here)
The Better Bones program was designed for, and is targeted to persons with Osteoporosis. The optimal goal of the program is to reduce the rate of bone loss by providing a safe, effective, sensible and supervised program of bone loading exercises for persons who have been diagnosed with Osteoporosis. By its very nature, the program is a basic, entry-level fitness program and therefore may be suitable for many individuals who for a variety of reasons need a gentle, easy program.
Saturday Morning Wu Style Tai Chi

This free Saturday Morning - Summer Time Tai Chi Program will rejuvenate your body and mind. Learn the basics of proper body alignment for better posture, balance, coordination and flexibility. Learn how to increase your functional lung capacity by increasing your body awareness and letting go of restricting tension throughout your body. Be a more relaxed, focused, confident you. This is a free program open all interested individuals aged 14 and over.
No experience necessary, beginners are welcome. Details on the summer 2009 program will be posted in mid-May.

Visit the Cities of New Brunswick Challenge (For further information click here)
Visit the Cities of New Brunswick Challenge is an online program that encourages and promotes physical activity. In this challenge, participants join teams of up to 5 people and do a virtual walk around the province using a pedometer or conversion chart to count their steps and track their progress from one city to the next.
Move this Way To Beijing (For further information click here)
Move This Way to Beijing is a free online active living initiative which focuses on friendly competition between teams. Move This Way to Beijing encourages 30 minutes or more of continuous activity every day! Any kind of activity counts such as: walking, swimming, soccer, mowing the lawn, etc. You can use a pedometer or simply submit the amount of time you were active. The activities of all team members are added together to help that team make the virtual journey to Beijing, ideally in its inaugural run before the start of the 2008 Summer Olympics.
Activity Goals

Activity Goals is a healthy living promotion program that is available for use both online and in hard copy. It was designed for people who are inactive or not currently very active but are looking to increase their activity level.
This 10 step 'Bingo' style program progressively leads to increased exercise. Participants start on sheet one where there are no time requirements and choices like 'Go For A Walk' and 'Be Active Outside' once they have complete a line (BINGO) they move on to the next sheet and so on. There are always plenty of choices as the activity requirements increase.
