Trails/Bikeways Master Plan
SGE Acres Ltd. of Halifax, in association with Marshall Macklin Monaghan (MMM) of Toronto, has developed a Trails/Bikeways Master Plan for the City of Fredericton.
The report's authors presented their Master Plan to Fredericton City Council on October 15, 2007 following a consultation process with stakeholder groups and concerned citizens during the summer of 2007.
In December 2006, Council awarded the SGE Acres a $49,989 contract to produce a 20-year, comprehensive plan for developing an integrated network of trails, bikeways, parks, environmental and recreation corridors and city streets.
This new trails/bikeways network will provide all residents a safer, healthier and more environmentally friendly alternative to driving for getting around the city.
The Master Plan was developed with input from the general public, community stakeholder groups such as the Fredericton Trails Coalition and the Active Transportation Committee as well as City Council and a steering committee made up of representatives from the City's Community Services, Development Services and the Engineering and Public Works departments.
