Parking Master Plan

The City of Fredericton is seeking input from residents on the draft of its Parking Master Plan at an open house Tuesday, March 19th, to be held in the Odell Lodge, 397 Rookwood Avenue, starting at 3 pm.

Members of the consulting team from Stantec will highlight key findings of the draft plan, which introduces parking management strategies that meet the needs of a continuously growing and vibrant downtown, at two separate presentations. The first presentation will begin at 3pm, the same presentation will be given again at 5pm.

The plan area is bordered by Smythe Street, George Street, University Avenue, and St. Anne Boulevard.  The goal of the master plan is to identify forward-thinking parking management strategies that:

  • Maximize the efficiency of existing parking resources
  • Improve parking and mobility options for residents and visitors
  • Identify solutions will support a connected, walkable and inviting destination for all users

The consultant will carry out research, review data, identify best practices, and gather feedback, all of which will be factored into the final draft of the report, which expected in the late fall of 2017.  The new Parking Master Plan will be an integral part of the City’s new Municipal Plan and Growth Strategy, which is also currently being developed.
