The Capital City Traffic Study provides the City of Fredericton with a carefully crafted plan to guide development of the municipality’s transportation network for the next decade and beyond. The Study, first developed in 2000, was updated and presented to City Council earlier this year by ADI Ltd. following 18 months of development that included extensive public consultation.
The finalized ADI Ltd. report provides City Council with a list of recommendations for prioritize improvements that address current traffic issues, changes in infrastructure, and future travel demands.
The report gives the City short-term (next two years), medium term (two to five years), intermediate term (five to 10 years) and long term (10-20 years) recommendations for improving its transportation network. It also attaches a price tag for each recommendation that will have to be borne by the municipality and/or the Province of New Brunswick, which is responsible for maintaining provincially-designated routes within the City limits.
