BOOST: a smart city innovation event


As the first 5G City in Atlantic Canada – powered by Rogers, the City of Fredericton and Fredericton Innovation Partnership stakeholders are pleased to present BOOST -- a smart city innovation event to fully develop 5G use cases into prototype ideas.

Boost Fredericton Innovation Camp

This collaborative, week-long Innovation Camp offers a unique opportunity for participants to help devise innovation solutions to address real ‘Smart City’ municipal challenges. Using real life data along with 5G technology, participants will spend the week hacking with an interdisciplinary team to create innovative solutions to the following problem statements:

Problem Statement #1: Leveraging the power of 5G, how might we help the City of Fredericton, the business community, and/or residents to improve the assessment of flood risks, storm and sewer management systems, and its impacts on infrastructure, operations and service delivery? Read more

Problem Statement #2: Leveraging the power of 5G, how might we empower emergency first responders with more insight and intelligence via real-time data analytics and remote support? Read more

Participants will benefit from learning and knowledge acquisition through guidance from expert coaches, esteemed mentors, and feedback from customers allowing each interdisciplinary team to create a working prototype of their innovative solution.

There will be amazing prizes, mentorship, networking opportunities and access to key stakeholders.

*Participants will work in teams during the week based on mutually agreed upon times to develop their prototype idea.

  • Monday, May 31st - Event Kick-off & Workshops
  • Wednesday, June 2nd - Midweek Challenge
  • Thursday June 3rd - Final Pitch Submission 
  • Friday June 4th- Final Presentations
