Stephen Chase

Stephen Chase is the Executive Director of the Atlantic Salmon Conservation Foundation, responsible for managing and directing a major wild Atlantic salmon conservation trust fund with the goal of improving community-based stewardship of fish and fish habitat in Atlantic Canada and Quebec. Before accepting this position, Councillor Chase gained over 25 years of experience in various senior intergovernmental relations and policy development positions, and in directing major programs with the Province of New Brunswick, Government of Canada and Canadian Blood Services.

He was first elected City Councillor for Ward 9 in 2008. He is now serving his third four-year term after being acclaimed in May 2012 and elected again in May 2016. His past experience on Council includes a two-year term as Deputy Mayor and being a member of the Development, Finance & Administration Committees, Strategic & External Relations Committee and the Negotiations Liaison Committee. He was also the City’s representative to Le Centre Communautaire Sainte-Anne. Councillor Chase has also served as the city’s current representative to the Union of Municipalities of New Brunswick where he served as Vice President.

Councillor Chase is a graduate of Fredericton High School and holds a Bachelor’s degree in both Law and Arts (Biology) from UNB. He’s also spent time as an elected school trustee for several years and is a past, long-term member of the Rotary Club of Fredericton.

Stephen and his wife, Denise, live on Mitchell Street in the Ward 9 area.
