Building Permits

Building permits must be obtained before you start work on a new building, an addition, or any alterations to an existing building that is significant in nature. Permits, and subsequent inspections, help ensure that all work meets National Building Code standards, as well as other regulations and standards.

Applicants are encouraged to contact the Building Inspection Division (506-460-2020) to discuss project details and to determine required documentation or plans prior to applying for a Permit. The building inspection counter is located on the ground floor of City Hall.

Once the building permit is issued, you can monitor your building permit application status, track inspection results and make payments for all permit types, using the account information provided during the building permit application process.
