Why Solar?

Homes and buildings are responsible for 56 percent of GHG (greenhouse gas) emissions in Fredericton. Recognizing the responsibility to respond to the causes and impacts of climate change, the City of Fredericton has committed to reducing community GHG emissions 50 percent by 2030 and achieving net zero by 2050 with implementing actions through the City’s Community Energy and Emissions Plan (CEEP).

One avenue to avoid further contributing to climate change is making the move to local renewable energy options. With 294 days of sun per year, Fredericton has higher solar energy potential than Halifax, Vancouver, London, and Berlin.
