City Hours of Operation and Street Closures for Canada Day Long Weekend

The City of Fredericton reminds the public of the following hours of operation and street closures for the Canada Day Long Weekend:

  • City Hall and other administrative offices will be closed on Friday, July 1, 2022.
  • There will be no transit service on Friday, July 1, 2022.
  • Indoor and outdoor pools, as well as Killarney Lake beach and the Wilmot splash pad will remain open. For hours of operation and more information visit www.fredericton.ca/recreation or follow Fredericton Recreation’s social media channels.
  • Regular garbage and recycling collection will occur on Friday, July 1.  Routine schedules may not occur, so please set out containers by 7 am.
  • The Westmorland Street Bridge will be CLOSED for fireworks from 8:30pm – approximately 12am to both vehicle and pedestrian traffic on Friday, July 1st. The fireworks are at 10:40 pm from the bridge.

    Boating access to the Saint John River on July 1st will be restricted to below the Carleton Street piers or past the Small Craft Aquatic Centre from 9:00pm – 12am. 

    Motorists are reminded of the City’s two Park and Walk locations near the downtown core; one on the north side and one on the south side -FREX Grounds & Parking lot and the York Arena (Devon).  Residents are encouraged to park their cars and walk or bike into the downtown core. The Bill Thorpe Walking Bridge and Northside Trail both remain open and provide easy access to the downtown core.

  • The Bill Thorpe Walking Bridge will be CLOSED to the public from 5pm – 9pm for the “Beer on the Bridge” charity event on Saturday, July 2, 2022.
