The City of Fredericton will join the federal and provincial governments in observing the National Day of Mourning for The Queen on Monday, September 19, 2022. The public is advised of the following municipal hours of operation:
- City Hall and other administrative offices will be closed. This includes the visitor information centre at City Hall.
- Transit will continue to operate based on its normal schedule.
- Regular garbage and recycling collection will occur.
- Arenas and the Fredericton Indoor Pool will remain open, as well as sport fields (weather depending).
- As always, essential services will continue to operate.
The City has joined with others from around the Commonwealth and the world in mourning the loss of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. Flags have been lowered to half-mast at City facilities, and like other public buildings across the country, City Hall has been lit in Royal Blue to remember of The Queen.
Residents of Fredericton are advised that Books of Condolence remembering The Queen can be found at Government House, 51 Woodstock Road and the Provincial Legislature, 706 Queen Street. Online condolences may be expressed at Government of Canada (Canada.ca) and The Royal Family (Royal.uk).
