Garbage and Recycling Collection

Regular weekday curbside recycling and garbage collection will occur during the holiday season. This includes Christmas Eve, December 24 and New Year’s Eve, December 31. Collection times may vary, so please place materials curbside by 7:00 am.

Recycling Reminder

Don’t let your recycling go to waste during the holiday season. While some items, like wrapping paper, cannot be recycled, other materials like cardboard and boxboard are welcome. When in doubt, look for the recycling symbol and check out the complete list of materials at www.frswc.ca/recycling.

Households are encouraged to use the curbside recycling program. Apartment dwellers can use the recycling depots located around the city. For more, visit www.fredericton.ca/recycling

The recycling depots will be available over the holiday season.  Please note that pickup of materials at the depots does not occur on weekends and will be limited on the holiday Mondays.  If the bins are full, please do not leave recyclables on the ground to get wet and blow away, but make plans to return at another time.

Christmas Tree Recycling

The annual Christmas Tree Recycling program runs from December 26 to January 20, and is one of the many ways that we can reduce waste, reuse and recycle. Christmas Trees are collected at the following designated disposal sites, chipped, and recycled for compost at the City of Fredericton municipal composting facility:

  • Royal Road Park - Park parking lot adjacent to the Royal Road Fire Station
  • Fulton Heights - School parking lot off main entrance to Nashwaaksis Middle School
  • Fisher Park – Park parking lot off McEvoy
  • Marysville Heritage Centre Facility - Parking lot off McGloin Street
  • Kimble Drive - Vacant lot opposite the Fredericton Community Garden at 150 Kimble
  • Odell Park - Park parking lot in the corner of the lot off Waggoners Lane
  • Queens Square Park - Park parking lot adjacent to pool building off Aberdeen
  • Angelview Park - Park parking lot off Woodstock Road

For staff and equipment safety, please DO NOT leave wreaths, artificial trees or any other materials that are not natural Christmas Trees. This includes the removal of all stands, tinsel, ornaments, screws, plastic, strings, nails and wires, as these objects are not recyclable.
