City reopens Service Centre with enhanced service options

In response to the Province’s COVID-19 Recovery Plan and the move to the yellow recovery phase, the Service Centre at City Hall will reopen to the public effective June 1.

The Service Centre reopening follows the health and safety protocols as set out by the Province of New Brunswick’s Chief Medical Officer of Health, and features an enhanced customer service option to pre-book appointments.

“As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to change in its scope and impact, the City is doing everything we can to continue to serve customers while keeping health and safety in mind,” said Jihad El Zamer, Manager of Financial Services & Service Fredericton. “New in-person safety measures include a hand-sanitizing station at the entry, physical distancing signage reminders, as well as physical barriers installed at counters that allow for safer interaction with customers. The City offers online payment options for most of its services and we encourage residents to continue paying for their services online.”

If you must come in-person, we encourage pre-booking your appointment. Pre-booking is available online, by emailing servicedesk@fredericton.ca, and by calling Service Fredericton at 506-460-2020. While the Service Centre accepts payments in cash, personal cheque, and money order, at this time the preferred methods of payment are debit and credit card.

Residents that choose to pay for City services in-person without an appointment should plan their time and parking accordingly to provide appropriate transaction times. In addition, Public Health strongly recommends that the public wear non-medical masks, also referred to as community face masks, when out in the community when physical distancing is challenging.

As a reminder, after June 1, 2020, residents struggling financially as a result of COVID-19 impacts and unable to pay for City services, such as Water & Sewer, are required to contact Service Fredericton as soon as possible. The City, as always, will work with residents to find alternative payment scheduling options in lieu of extra charges or service interruption.

Service Centre hours are 8:15 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday to Friday and closed on holidays.

Details are available on the City website.
