Fredericton’s Northside will benefit from infrastructure upgrades

Canadian cities and towns flourish when they have community public spaces to promote social interaction and physical activity and provide access to recreational programs and facilities. These amenities are integral to the overall well-being of individuals, families, and communities. Our economic recovery is closely linked to the vitality of our local communities and their shared spaces.

Today, Jenica Atwin, Member of Parliament for Fredericton, announced an investment of $199,500 through the Canada Community Revitalization Fund (CCRF) for the City of Fredericton. The announcement was made on behalf of the Honourable Ginette Petitpas Taylor, Minister of Official Languages and Minister responsible for ACOA.

The Honourable Jill Green, provincial Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure, and Her Worship, Kate Rogers, Mayor for the City of Fredericton, also announced $250,250 each.

This support will help the City of Fredericton purchase and install energy efficient LED lighting systems, accessible bleachers and bleacher pads at the Johnston and Tingley ball fields. These improvements will allow the city to meet increasing demand for game time and improve accessibility at the ball fields. These upgrades will help reanimate the community by maintaining safe and accessible sports facilities for people of all abilities to enjoy.
