Public invited to celebrate Jake Allen’s Stanley Cup win August 1

The City of Fredericton invites the public to congratulate Jake Allen on his historic Stanley Cup win at a special event in August.

Allen will bring the Stanley Cup to Officers’ Square on Thursday, August 1 from noon to 2:00 p.m. for a meet and greet with guests. Visitors will be able to have photos taken with the St. Louis Blues goaltender and the Stanley Cup. Entertainment will be on site.

“We are looking forward to welcoming Jake home,” said Mayor Mike O’Brien. “Jake has brought pride to Fredericton and we invite everyone to celebrate his championship success with him.”

Allen and his St. Louis Blues teammates won their first Stanley Cup in June.

Born in Fredericton, Allen played for the Fredericton Midget ‘AAA’ Canadiens before being drafted in the third round of the QMJHL draft by the St. John’s Fog Devils. He won silver with Team Canada at the 2009 World Junior Hockey Championship and was drafted by the St. Louis Blues in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft.

Allen debuted in the NHL in 2012.

As part of the celebration, Carleton St. will be closed between Queen St and the Fredericton Public Library parking lot.

The event will take place rain or shine.
