The NBEX and the City Launch Phase 2 Engagement on NBEX Grounds Site Development

Following the initial public engagement last fall, Fredericton residents can once again weigh in on the future of the New Brunswick Exhibition Grounds as part of the second phase in the development plan for the site. Guided by a partnership between the New Brunswick Exhibition (NBEX) and City of Fredericton, the project seeks to craft a Site Development Plan for the exhibition grounds’ redevelopment that is future-focused while remaining respectful of the site’s almost 150-year agricultural legacy.

While the Covid-19 pandemic has prevented a repeat of the October 1st NBEX Open House, residents can nonetheless have their voices heard through the online survey which launched today on and will be running until January 29th. The site has also been updated with both a summary of what was heard during Phase 1 and the Phase 2 Engagement Background and Scenario Concepts. Residents can also fill out the survey the old-fashioned way by dropping by the NBEX during business hours and filling out paper copies in an environment that respects COVID-19 safety protocols.

NBEX Phase 2 Roll-Out

January 11: Online survey launches on and will run until January 29th. Paper-copy surveys available at the NBEX during business hours.

January 18, 19 and 20: Online stakeholder workshops

“We had a great response during Phase 1 with more than 700 people sharing their thoughts on this exciting redevelopment opportunity for a very important property,” said Andrew Steeves, Chairperson of the Joint Land Development Committee. “We’re looking forward to getting residents’ feedback on three scenario concepts, which are informed by what we heard from the public and stakeholders in Phase 1 as well as site analysis performed by our consultant, O2 Planning + Design Inc.”
