Police warn of “gold for cash" scam

The Fredericton Police would like to warn the public of a new fraudulent “gold for cash” scam.

On February 1st, 2023, a male and a female approached a plain clothes Fredericton Police Force member and attempted a gold for cash scam. They advised they needed help as they lost their wallets and attempted to trade fake gold jewelry for money. The individuals were driving a rented black SUV with an Ontario license plate.

Police continue to investigate and are looking to speak to anyone who has had similar interactions.
